If you are like me, you are not alone when it comes to
horrible, irritatingly dry skin during the winter months.
Here are a couple of tips to keep your skin soft and
comfortable through the cold.

-Although you should drink water all of the time, in winter
it helps to keep your skin plump and hydrated. Drink at
least 8-10 glasses of fresh water a day. Try not to drink
too much caffeine or alcohol as it is drying to the skin.

-Hot baths and showers are also drying to the skin. Try to
limit your time in a hot bath or shower. After your bath,
blot your skin with a towel, don't rub or remove all the
moisture from your body. Leaving your skin a little damp
helps keep moisture on your skin as you apply your lotion
or body oil.

-Remember to do a periodic body scrub to remove dead skin
cells. How often you use your salt or sugar scrub is up to
you. Some use a scrub once a week, others use a scrub every
day(although I don't really recommend that. Once or twice a
week with a day or two in between sessions is more than
enough in my opinion). Once your body scrub is done, treat
your renewed skin with your favorite lotion, cream or body
oil or body butter. For a nice skin treat use lotion in the
daytime and body butter at night for deep moisturizing.

-Feet are my worst enemy in the winter. Dry, cracked feet
that snag everything from your stockings to your blankets.
Once a week pamper those tootsies with a nice pedicure
session. Start with a foot soak, followed by a scrubbing
with a pumice stone, pumice scrub or sugar scrub and
finishing with a rinse and a generous application of cream
or body butter. Put on cotton socks, climb into bed and let
that cream do its work!
